THERAPY FOR THERAPISTS IN ST PAUL & ONLINE IN MINNESOTA
You help others, let me help you.

You have problems like everyone else… but asking for help can feel complicated.
“Sometimes I feel like a fraud, advising clients on ways to take care of themselves while I feel like my own life is a mess.”
“I know how to advise people about their problems, but don’t know where to start with my own!”
“I have no space to process all that is coming up in and out of session.”
“Hearing these stories over and over is triggering my own past experiences.”
As a therapist, it feels like we’re “supposed” to have our mental health all figured out —
but pretending like everything is OK when we are going through our own stuff can make us feel worse. And for many therapists, part of what brings us into this field is our own experiences with mental health struggles. You understand that mental health IS health, but partly because of externalized AND internalized stigma, that concept can be hard to apply to yourself.
YOU DESERVE A SPACE to sort out what you are experiencing and feeling… to take care of your own mental health.
Just because you are a therapist does not mean you have all the answers, though perhaps you feel like you should. All this tension and pain is causing you stress and overwhelm. Your self care strategies either are not cutting it anymore or have fallen to the wayside; your relationships are struggling, and you keep getting more and more behind. And maybe providing therapy is a nice distraction, but once the hour is up you are back faced with your own difficulties and you know things have got to change.
Finding a qualified therapist — one you feel safe being vulnerable and honest with — can be intimidating.
You get to take off your therapist hat and turn the focus on yourself.
When you feel comfortable to be honest about your struggles, powerful healing can occur. We will work to create a safe and connected relationship where you can let out what’s going on inside, and get non-judgmental feedback to make progress towards your healing.
As you process through your struggles, I will also offer resources to help make improvements to your daily life. Some of them might be reminders — things you already know — but having an outside perspective is often what is missing.
Getting to the root of your problem:
We will work together, using mind and body based therapies, to address what is going on underneath your symptoms. I use a combination of talk therapy, curious inquiry, teaching / psycho-education about mental health and how the brain works, and EMDR to encourage long-term changes.

You don't have to have all the answers.

The therapy session is your time, to talk about you and how you are doing.
You get to decide how you spend that time, and I work to facilitate the process to ensure we are working towards the goals you have for your therapy.
While you may never feel “done” doing your own therapy as a therapist, at some point you might feel like you can do more of that work on your own.
